Sunshine

No response, Sep 26, 2009

The sun streams through a gap of a missing vertical blind. Outside, I can see nothing but blue sky and apartment buildings. The air mattress I’m sharing with Beth is surprisingly comfortable, moreso than the one we own for our camping trips. My feet are under a desk, the mattress rearranged to make a bit more room in the study we’re sleeping in. But the accommodations don’t phase us too much – we’ve made it to Sydney.

I check the weather down in Melbourne – showers, overcast, chance of thunderstorms and hail, with a top of 14. Outside this window, it looks nothing short of a perfect summer’s day. Plans haven’t been settled on yet for the day; it’s a holiday and we’ve got plenty of time to sort out how we’re going to fill our first day of leisure.

No one else has surfaced yet. Beth’s still well and truly asleep, worn out by the better part of 11hrs in a car. Roger’s still sleeping too, having worked all week. I’m up; 8:30am a decent sleep in for my usual rising hour. It’s peaceful, it’s quiet, it’s warm, and it’s the perfect way to start a week away.
